Becky Griggs went from a Couch Potato to a Body Builder

becky-griggs-before On Becky Griggs’ ireport page she shares even more about her journey. She said that she was a morbidly obese couch potato, but with work and a lot of changes in her life she came out as a body builder.

After losing nearly 200 pounds she decided to become a certified personal trainer. She started training for the Seven Feather’s Body Building Content in January 2009. “By that I mean my lifting became more purposeful with the goal of maintaining and hopefully even putting on a little more muscle before I had to start "leaning down" in June.” She writes.

Beck Griggs says that even though she didn’t place that well in the contest, to her it was never about winning, instead it was about achieving her impossible goal. She went to this body lifting content and thought no one would even fathom that she was a “former fat girl”.

Her long term plan was to lose the weight, and she accomplished that. She says she is “crazy proud” of herself.

Becky Griggs: “I gave up the whites, no sugar or flour”

becky-griggs Continuing the story of Becky Griggs where we left off. She was 352 pounds and just discovered that the supposed healthy protein bars that she was consumer were laced in sugars. She said the realization that these bars weren’t good for her at all is what made her make her mind to start to get healthy.

On ireport Becky Griggs wrote, “I gave up the whites – no sugar or flour, and started learning what it meant to really eat healthy.”

What does it mean to give up sugar and flour in your diet? This pretty much means that cookies, “protein bars”, Pepsi and other “refreshment drinks” and foods like pizza and pasta should be eliminated, or eaten in very small doses. There is debate whether or not giving up sugars and flour altogether is a good or bad thing for your body, but we’ll leave that discussion for another time.

At the time of Becky’s ireport journal she said that she entered into the Prevention Magazine Picture of Health Content. In under 2.5 years she lost over 200 pounds and gone from a size 28 to a 4. She was selected as a finalists of the contest.

Becky Griggs shares her inspirational story

bb-300x223[1] Her name is Becky Griggs and in under 2 years she lost over 200 pounds, all through proper nutrition and exercise. It seems almost too good to be true, however it is well known that proper nutrition and exercise are both the keys to change your life forever. She goes on to say, “I joined a health club when I weighed 352 pounds – went once then didn’t go back for 6 months. At that time I was going to one of  the popular diet centers bi-weekly for weigh-ins and trying to follow their program. I had no success.”

A lot of people have start and fits when it comes to losing the pounds. You need to find the right mindset, and the right program that works for you. The only thing that works is when a switch turns off in your mind and you say, I can do it. I can lose the weight.

Becky Griggs goes on to talk about how she was given “protein” bars between meals, and before long all she wanted to do was eat those bars. She says that eating for her was the habit that she wanted to try to break. Becky says, “One day I didn’t want to be controlled any longer & I put the bar down and read the ingredient label on the box. That 190 calorie "protein" bar was laden with sugar! It was right then that I decided to get healthy!”
